QUEBEC CITY, Que. - After opening the tournament with a loss to British Columbia, Saskatchewan has notched back-to-back wins to close its preliminary-round play with a 2-1 record.
Kennedy Bobyck (Regina/Edge School, CSSHL) opened the scoring with a tip-in from Taylor Kirwan’s (Gull Lake, Sask./Swift Current, SFMAAAHL) point-shot during the team’s two-man advantage at 1:49 of the second period. Miranda Hatt (Regina/Regina, SFMAAAHL) blasted a wrist shot through Manitoba’s defence to score an unassisted goal before the teams headed back to the dressing rooms for the second intermission.
Bobyck scored a second power-play goal in the third on a pass from Allison Hayhurst (Wapella, Sask./Melville, SFMAAAHL). Anna Leschyshyn (Grasswood, Sask./Saskatoon, SFMAAAHL) dug the puck out of the corner and got it to the front of the net to Kate Ball (Saskatoon, Sask./Prince Albert, SFMAAAHL), who found the back of the net.
